Mechanical to Hydraulic Clutch Conversion Help

I have a 1982 firebird that I want to replace the mechanical clutch linkage on. It seems, at first glance, I can just order a later model year hydraulic clutch master cylinder and it should bolt up. Am I correct in assuming this? Anyone have any experience with this conversion?
I have the slave side already so it's purely just the master I need.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Mechanical to Hydraulic Clutch Conversion Help

You need the pedal assy (the WHOLE assy) from a hyd equipped car. The mech pedal won't work, and the hyd pedal won't fit into the assy for the mech system.

And of course, a hyd bell housing.

Other than that it's pretty much a slap-in.

What about the hyd. pedal assy. is different?
I've got the transmission side of things sorted.

Pretty much everything.

The hyd cyl won't hook up to the mech pedal.

It looks like they have the same type of connection to the pedal. Will the push arm (don't know what it's called) not reach the connection point on the pedal?

Think whatever you like about "look".

Won't work.

Been there, done that.
