What rear axle do I have and will it hold up?
I don't know much about rear ends so here we go. I have a 1986 base model Camaro with the 2.8l mpfi engine an 700r4 trans. I know it has 3:42(GU6) in it, but it what style is it. I've been doing some research and it seems that there are 7.5' and 7.6' 10 bolts and there are also 9 bolts.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm 350 swapping this car so I want to put posi and a higher gear ratio into it, will it hold up? Also what all would I need for posi and the new gear ratio setup?

7˝" 10-bolt
All the gears you can buy these days for that model of rear are called 7-5/8", don't worry, they fit the same
That's a drum brake rear with the old 26-spline (small) axles; not worth spending money on
You need a 89-92 core w/ PBR disc brakes, a new pr of axles, a carrier (posi), set of gears if you want to change those, "master" overhaul kit, abuncha labor
