Hi guys my clutch started slipping. The car has basic bolt ons, holly carb, edelbrock intake manifold, headers, cats deleted, mild cam not sure which one.
My local parts store has a luk clutch but I want something more heavy duty? Any suggestions and links where to order it from?
Ebay has this one (clutch max stage 1 with flywheel) has anyone used them?
A stock type clutch will be more than enough until you do an engine swap, TBH.
Ebay parts are typically a losing gamble.
If you're set on getting something more than stock Mcleod has many options from "stock type" to track only and everything in between. I run a Mcleod in mine and love it.
Thanks I do race and a little bit of drifting so maybe a stage 1 or something a little more heavy duty than stock. Which McLeod would you recommend? Any specific website to order it from for Canada?
I’m running a McLeod super Street pro clutch pack. It’s stiff without being unbearable but still has good street manners. I’m pushing somewhere between 410-420 hp at the crank and it holds it just fine. Also running one of their flywheels (iron)
is there a Jegs or Summit Racing equivalent in Canada? I got mine from Jegs.
you can sometimes find sellers on eBay with them and I know eBay does not-terrible rates to Canada.
Thanks I just found a place called Mopar close to my house they said they have 1 in stick the McLeod pro street clutch kits for $352 canadian. I'm going to pick it up
thanks which fastenefastidious there a part number? Anything else I should have them change while in there?
If you have the stock flywheel then I'd go ahead and replace that too, it's just an extra $100 or so but well worth it.
For fasteners (pressure plate bolts and flywheel bolts) I recommend ARP. They are pricey, but really in a league of their own. If you're going to spend a little extra then doing it on the parts that keep the giant spinning metal disc next to your ankles in place is a good spot to spend it haha.
I don't have part numbers but if you google it they'll come up. Just be sure you get the right flywheel bolts (if you choose to replace that). There are ones for a 2-piece rear main and a 1-piece rear main. The bolt shafts are the same but the heads are different sizes (due to one of those configurations having a tighter bolt circle).
86+ should be a 1 piece rear main, 82-85 you'll have to check (I THINK - don't quote me).
