Clutch fork pivot ball to spring question

Need a quick answer. Perhaps stupid to most, but....when installing the clutch fork onto the pivet ball inside the bellhousing, does the fork spring clip just get placed and sits on top of the pivet ball? Or do you slide and snap the pivet ball underneath the spring clip?
