Auto/manual swap cruise control failure

Recently performed an auto to manual (TKX) swap on my Formula and can't figure out why the cruise doesn't work. Worked fine prior to swap; I've gone through the shop manual troubleshooting and everything checks out. I ran a "kill" switch to the clutch pedal in series with the brake pedal switch and have continuity at both. Vacuum hose is connected to brake pedal switch. I have VSS signal to ECM (7730) verified by data log. I have also tried running the cruise module signal wire to the Dakota Digital box, but it should be getting signal from ECM as ECM is getting good signal. Have I missed something? I wound up using the clutch neutral safety switch harness that was under the drivers' side dash, so the yellow/purple neutral safety switch wires on the auto shifter aren't currently hooked up to anything. Also ran a new wire from the hatch release switch to the parking brake so my hatch release would function.

Re: Auto/manual swap cruise control failure

Would something in the column maybe be causing the issue?

Like, does it work if you rotate the part of the column that moves when you used to shift the automatic into drive?

Might be a long shot, but I could see something mechanical in there interfering with the cruise operation because it still thinks the car is in park.

Re: Auto/manual swap cruise control failure

Is there anyone out there that has performed the auto to manual swap and has a working cruise control?

Re: Auto/manual swap cruise control failure

I figured out the cruise control problem. Crawled under the dash and found the vacuum release switch at the brake pedal loose. So, basically, it wasn't sucking! In the course of fixing that (long sad story) I broke the brake light switch retainer (!!!!). Fortunately I had a couple of spares, so it's repaired. Test drive confirmed operational cruise control. Problem stemmed from the Hawk's repro pedals. The steel that the switches snap into is significantly thicker that stock. Good for structural integrity; bad for retainer fit. I had to whittle down the locking pins in the retainers so that they would actually clear the thicker steel and lock into place.

Re: Auto/manual swap cruise control failure

@rt66er My car was converted by the previous owner to T5 and the cruise control was manually disconnected rather than wire an additional release switch on the clutch. So my question is - did you use the same cruise release switch on the clutch pedal as what is used on the brake pedal? If so, how did you mount it? Should the clutch pedal have a similar mount bracket as the brake pedal for this switch?
Currently I've just reconnected the cruise so it works, but it doesn't release with the clutch as it should.

Re: Auto/manual swap cruise control failure

Yes, I believe it's the same "normally closed" switch. It needs to be wired in series with the switch on the brake pedal so that if either is pressed it will break the circuit and cancel the cruise. My pedals are different than yours, so I'm not sure if the switch I used would be correct for yours. I'm using the Hawk's 4th gen pedals and the openings for some of the switches is a different size than the 3rd gen pedals.
