Not about my camaro but my 2003 tahoe. I know a lot of us own trucks so thought Id ask . Diff on my hoe is about to blow. Picked up what I thought was a 2000-2006 diff complete rear end. Turns out it's a later diff from a 2012 burban. Looks identical to my tahoe diff except for the fill hole is on the diff cover instead of on the case, and the yoke were the driveshaft sits is different. Looked up u joints for the 03, which are 1.125 and then looked up for the 2012, 1.188. Did some research and found a conversion u joint 1.125 to 1.188. Would this work to get it mated to the newer yoke? Using the stock 03 driveshaft. Pictures are of my tahoe yoke and the yoke on newer burb. Thanks
A conversion u joint may make it work. I've used them for swaps. Just make sure it's the proper joint the the shaft and yoke. Also make sure the diff is the same gear ratio as the front diff if 4wd. Also if the diff dimensions are the same, like is your current drive shaft gonna be too long/short. Make sure the suspension mounts are the same also. The reason I say all of this, is if one thing is different there may be others.
It's a 2wd. All the mounts are the same for shocks, struts, sway bar, panhard, control arms. I took measurements from backing plate to backing plate, from yoke to diff cover, from shock mount to shock mount and everything measures identical. Well see.
Just wanted to update for anyone looking to upgrade your rear axle on your gmt800 to the newer gmt900 axle. Everything bolts right up. You only have to swap your backing plates, plug the abs sensor holes and buy a conversion u-joint from spicer.
