Hey yall, I was under my car changing the shifting cable when I realized these wires were cut. Not sure what they’re for. Car has been shifting ehhh ok. Not too bad not too good. Any light on the situation would be greatly appreciated.
The thick wire coming off of the subframe looks like an old speedo cable that someone cut off because it went bad and the loom coming off of the transmission is for torque converter lockup. Under certain parameters (light load high vacuum cruise) the computer sends a signal to the transmission telling it that it's okay to lockup and activates the solenoid internally. It's pretty important you have that hooked up and working correctly for longevity sake, you can run it without it and be fine for a while but during the summer your fluid will get HOT and transmission death follows. If you're running a carburetor there's a sticky here on how to hook up torque converter lockup to work correctly, but most people just buy the TCI or Painless Performance lockup kits.
