700r4 leak

My 700r4 has been pissing transmission fluid. I think most is coming form the pan but I also noticed that this was leaking. Does anyone know if there is a o ring in there or something that I can replace. Thanks Cayden

Re: 700r4 leak

It's the speedometer cable.

Take it out by first unscrewing the cable, then remove the bolt that's just above it, which holds on a sorta fork-shaped retainer. It'll just pull out. There's an O-ring around the outside of it, and a seal thing on the inside, around the shaft of the gear, around where the cable plugs into the gear. Probably best to just replace that whole thing, as stock ones are made of CRAP material which wears out, cracks, etc., meaning that even with a new O-ring & seal, it'll probably still leeeeek. Google "automatic transmission parts" and you'll find any number of vendors you can order one from.

Re: 700r4 leak

yeah, if that is the speedo gear housing (or what ever it is, has some gears in it) I tried to stop that leak to no avail. havn't tried again lately. its pretty slow but a leak non-the less.
