I'm trying to install a PA Racing 4L80 crossmember while using a speedway motors mock 4L80 transmission. As shown in the photos the transmission pan is hitting the passenger side of the crossmember which doesn't seem ideal. Additionally the fitment on the drivers side has a large enough gap in between the frame and crossmember to fit a 3/8 extension inside. This thread isn't meant to be a criticism of the mount itself, I'm mostly wondering if anyone else has experienced something similar with this or any other crossmember. Really unsure if it's something I'm doing wrong, if there is something wrong with the car itself or if this is completely normal. I appreciate any help, thanks!
Yup, had the same issue with that crossmember. I just clearanced mine to make it fit and ovaled out the bolt holes and used wide washers. Nothing really else you can do besides cut it and re-weld it yourself perfectly. I called them years ago and told them the same thing that you are seeing and they said they didn't know why it didn't fit perfectly. Take a cut-off wheel and clearance as necessary to make it fit.
That's disappointing to hear. Right or wrong I feel anything already in paint or powder coat should not need to be cut/clearanced/etc. otherwise that defeats the purpose.
