Quick th700 filter question

Im currently changing oil and filter, and installing a new pan with drain plug. Took the old filter out, pryed the old seal/o-ring out and pushed the new filter in. But, it didnt "click" into place. I whacked it with the palm of my hand but no click. So, should it click or will the pump just hold it into place? I don't wanna torque all bolts and reinstall the crossmember (which was surprisingly loose) only to hear "yes, it should click" :-)

Re: Quick th700 filter question

Don't remember a "click" when replacing the filter. But from what you described, is what I have done in the past. Pulled straight down on the filter (spilled more transmission fluid on me and the driveway), then got that Oring out of the transmission. Placed the new Oring on new the filter, put a little transmission fluid on the Oring and slide it up until it bottomed out.
