Uh... and the stupid question of the day goes to.... ME!! RE: K&N Filters
How critical is it to wash a K&N filter with THIER stuff (
)? Would warm water and dish soap (or ?) do just as well? Air drying vs. compressed air I can understand. Or is this just a way for them to make a few extra snails?

you would need to the oil the filter. without it the filter is nowhere near as good at filtering as typical. you do not want to overoil the filter thoug heither

Washing: Get a tub of warm water, dip the filter into it. Submerge shake, pull up shake. DO NOT SCRUB THE FILTER!!!
Oiling: Get the spray (different brands work also). Should be sprayed until there is a dark pink/light red tint on the filter surface. Allow to dry for 10-15 minutes.
Reinstall. Drive.

Go to K&N's site, IIRC they have step by steps to follow.
