how to find out rearend gears

i have the 89 lo5(tbi)
with the 2.73 im guessing.

how could i figure what is really in there and what size of gear that can fit in there?

help me on this my f body urges for the jump!!!

You could pull the cover off. Check the ring gear for a number like 41-11 These are the tooth counts for each gear, divide the smaller number into the larger number to get the ratio. Example 41 divided by 11 = 3.727272 (that rounds up to a 3.73).
OR wait for someone to give you a code to check but that doesn't say what's IN the car that only tells you what the car came with.
