Just put in new converter WOW

I installed an ACT 9.5in 2600 stall and its the best mod yet in my car. It drives normal still and i dont have to give it gas to start. Its a great piece.

This is great to hear...but we need more info. OK, I need more info as I am going to purchase this exact convertor (same stall too) in 1.5 weeks.

What is your combo? Did you replace the tranny at the same time? Any thoughts as to increase 0-60 times and/or 1/4 miles times?

Thanks,

I haventbeen able to get on it and see how it really works yet because I'm still breakin gin the new cam and heads. + its snowing again ehre. I'll let you know whats up later this week. I want to take it out on sunday.

I plan on running a very similar setup, including the same cam.

I'm curious...

How does the engine seem to run? Does it idle smooth with that cam? Would you be able to use it as a dialy driver?

oh yea you can still use it as a daily driver. the idle is great. I wouldnt know there was a cam in there. It idle just a tad more rougher then the L98 one unless I have it set at 800 RPM, but I have mine set at 700.

Do you ahve the part numbers and prices for both the stall and cam? I have been looking around and havent had much luck on finding cams. If you have it please list the part numbers as well and where. Thanks,

Jesse

The Comp Cams part number is 08-502-8, or maybe that's the grind number...just goto their web page to find out. But it's referenced in the Summit catalog under CCA-08-502-8.

It goes for about $240 there.

Isky also makes a very similar cam. Their part number is 211265/272 .

Specs are @.050 217-225 IN .485 EX .505 Valve Lift LSA 112

I think you can get them from Summit too.

As for the Torque converter...

B&M make a good one with 2400 stall.
For the lockup converter the part number from Summit is
BMM-70418

This is great news... I have a 406 with stock rebuilt bottom end and 1970 stock heads and a stock TPI. My cam specs are 222I and 226E at .500 with .470 lift and a 114 LSA.

I am going to be bolting on a SR and mildly ported Vette heads in a few months and since I am buying a Pro-built 700R4 and the 2600 ACT convertor with 3.27 gears, I am stoked....

The ACT convertor should be identical to the Vigilante for $200 less...I actually saw an ad for a "built" Art Carr convertor that also appeared to be a Vig knock-off....It must be a good formula then for producing the good results.

dana said the only differance that he knows of is that the Vig comes with a handmade billet case and the ACT buys their cases but the internals are identical.

I haven't asked Dana about that, but I wonder how it compares to the Art Carr convertor? I saw an ad for that one a few months ago in one of the various car magazines and the construction also looked similar...

Just out of curiousity, what about the ACT convertor handling WOT lockups? This probably is a Dana/Pro-Built question though.

This was brought up in a different, but still recent, thread.

And Mkos, does there appear to be more torque going to the wheels, ie does it appear to be more efficient as a convertor? Probably tough to tell with the other enhancements though.

Is that a roller cam? if so did you use the original lifters or did you get new ones? I hear some people have re-used stock type roller lifters and was wondering how well they work with aftermarket cams. Thanks for any info.

Thanks. I have a low mile '92 roller 350 shortblock that I want to rebuild, re-using the roller lifters will save some money.
Glad to hear it works well.
