LCA Bolt removal?
LCA Bolt removal?
I'm in the process of removing the 2.73 from my 87 Camaro. I have just one LCA bolt left and in the morning I'll get it out one way or another.
Got one side out today. First, managed to snap the bolt trying to get the nut off. My air impact wrench wouldn't touch it when trying to turn the bolt to free it up. Had to use a breaker bar. That would turn it but really didn't help any.
Finally decided to drill a hole in the backing plate (Drum Brake) and drive it out with a long punch and a sledge hammer. Tried a number of other methods. including heat, but to to keep a long story short........... There must be another way! Any ideas?
Thanks

My only advice is to soak the hell out of it with penetrating oil for a day or two, keep if covered with the stuff. The best on the market is Kroil (www.kanolabs.com) This stuff will free up anything. Unless you're in a hurry, then just destroy the ones youhave and replace them.
