suggestions on 700r4 rebuild

I am about to pull out the 700r4 and have it rebuilt. I would like to do this as cheaply as possible because this is going to be used as my driver so my '73 can get a little rest. Along with the rebuild, I was thinking about having a shift kit installed, but was wondering if there was anything else worthwile doing while i have it out.

There is a lot of things worth while doing while you have it out. Problem is finding the shop that is willing to custimize your transmission without going overboard for the price. I personally custimize every 700 for free just because i love feeling them shift after i'm finished with a rebuild. If you don't want to spend too much money, there are a few things you can do that shouldn't be more than 100 bucks extra on top of the rebuild. Get your 3-4 clutch set up to except 7 clutches instead of 6, but still remain with at least .060 clearence. Install a corvette servo and a .500 boost vavle, must have the transgo shift kit jr. no matter what, and also the kevlar ray bestos band is actually cheaper than a rebular band so ask for the kevlar raybestos band. That's just a basic rebuild that works well on trucks that do a little towing if your looking for a high performance rebuild you would want to take it a step futher.
