I have one. It is in my garage floor. It is a 3.08 drum rear. I dont have pictures but could probably take some this weekend if you would like. The problem is that the camera that I have access to is like a 20 dollar camera or something so the resolution might not be very good but I havnt hardly used it yet so I dont know.

Ben,

3 9 bolts or 3 open 9 bolt diffs?

If you could take a pic sometime and email to me that would be great.

Thanks
Miles

Luckily I have not been blessed with 3 open diffs. I have one open diff. I have one 2.77 posi disk, and one 3.45 posi disk. I origionally replaced the 3.08 open diff drum brake 9 bolt with the 2.77 posi w/ disks. I didnt really appreciat that gear change especially with the lg4. I just aquired the 3.45 and am working on getting it sanded and painted. I have a feeling that my car will wake up a little between that rear and the 350 that is going in.

Oh, why do you want a pic of it. Are you saing that you work with these all of the time and make parts for them and have not came across an open diff? I must have been one of the very few blessed ones. By the way you said something about being interested in 9 bolt parts in your site. Well, it sounds like your trying to get parts cheap to sell, but I figured I would ask if you would have any interest in the stuff I have other than the 3.45? If so, how much would you give me? Anyone else interested let me know. I might be able to pull out the 3.08 gears and sell those with the 2.77 posi rear end so you will have a better set of gears to put in it if somone is interested. Well, I just thought I would throw that in since the classifieds are down.

9 bolt Borg Warner

I was wondering.. and sorry if this is way off topic... but I have a 90 Formula Firebird with an L03, and wanted to know if a 9 Bolt Posi Disc Borg Warner would bolt right up to it? Are the splines correct? Will it stick out from the fender wells?

Any help would be MUCH appreciated.

If you get the whole thing it is a direct bolt in but the internals dont interchange.

I have to ask you what you mean by your bs flag. If you mean that non posi borg warners dont exists your WRONG. If it is because of the blessed part ok. Even Miles said that they do exist and he is about the only one that sells parts for the bw rear other than 3.70 gears.

If you cant tell, quite what it says, it says BW 2 3.08. This would stand for Borg warner series 2 with 3.08 ratio.

It is 3.08. I typed that in the message with the first picture, you probably overlooked it. It says it on the ring gear in the picture but is hard to read.

How about 4.10's and real 3.73's (not 3.70's) for 9 bolts?

when investigating buying the last f body 9 bolts here in aus had many discussions with the guys at borg warner
these rears were the hi performance option ALL WERE POSI and ALL WERE DISC BRAKE....i would doubt that the rear you are looking at was origionally drum and single leger .....my guess is someone over the years has changed it for some reason (hey there are some weird people around !!!

You would have to have custom parts made, and I have a book that lists an axle code for an Borg Warner 3.08 open diff. The code doesnt have anything to do with the brakes though.
