vette servo 700r4..

ok.. few guys told me to put a vette servo in my 700r4 which is on my 88 1/2 ton p/u.. they said it would firm up the shifts and make a good performance difference.. now I talk to a gm guy here locally that does tranny's and he tried to tell me changing servo won't do anything for shift firmnes.. did I miss explain this to him or what??

how should I go about explaining?? also is this something I should do or is it harder on the tranny and is it something I can do myself in my garage??

thanks

what about this kit http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1812753416

is it worth changing all this?? or just servo alone?? and can it be done on the floor in the garage without dropping tranny? and no tranny experience??

The Corvette servo will firm up the 2nd gear shift and firm up the 3rd gear shift slightly. The overdrive piston has apx. the same apply area as the Corvette servo. There are aftermarket overdrive servos, but I would install the Trans-Go Performance Shift kit as this will fix other problems as well as firm up 3rd & 4th gears by increasing the oil volume to these areas. Yes, you can do this in your garage.

ok.. so what exactly do I need to buy to do the servo job??? I find the 3 to 4 shift very smooth.. really slips in .. 1st to 2nd isn't too bad but I wouldn't mind it if it was a little firmer..

is any of this easier on the t ranny or harder on it???

thanks.. oh yeah and is there a step by step somewhere on how to do this??

pro built, i was looking at your homepage, and i was wondering something, you sell the vette servo and a .500 boost valve, what difference would i feel or see with also installing the boost valve along with the servo? thanks for your help. i am going to be buying a 700R4 rebuild kit soon, and I am gonna call and talk to you when I have the money, thanks for your help, i appreciate it, and i know everyone else on the board does too.

I looked into servos and valves awhile back. I have a cheap b&m shift kit in my 700-r4 now... I don't recommend putting a b&m in.... if your gonna spend the money go with trans go. Mine trannies has 95k miles on it of hard use, so I'm just waiting for it to go then I can buy a pro-built one :-).
