I found a few T56 trannies I'm looking at. There's one I found for a good deal from a '93 Z28, I'm aware of the '94+ 6th gear. Anyone have torque specs/year availability and gear ratio info for OEM T56's? Maybe I didn't look hard enough but I'm kinda interested in seeing what the torque capacity is on it, it came from the factory with a 2.73 rear gear ratio.

BTW: anyone take any '93 trannies and drop in the '94+ .50:1 6th gear? I heard it's been done. How much $$$ and labor?

 

why get a 93 box...its weaker

 

I agree I was told NOT to get a 93, (I am looking to get the same thing done). It is WEAK. Its peobably I think a little step up from your t-5.

 

Price...I can upgrade to a better fresher box in the future when this one (A) crapps out, (B) I get the money, or (C) I drop in the 383 in place of the 350.

The sixth gear swap is just a thing I'd like to have done since I used to work for the dealer and I'm friends with the shop foreman.
