Tranny mount confusion

Hey guys. Hoping someone can help me here. I R &R'ed the tranny mount a couple days ago because it was clunking on hard acceleration. I was surprised to find the old one in dirty, but good, condition. Problem is I still get the clunk. Upon thinking about it, I have come to the conclusion that I must be missing parts or something. Here is a pic I drew of what I have:

Now notice that the tranny mount mounts to the tranny (of couse ) at the top and the single bolt goes through the plate and a nut holds those together. BUT, it appears the plate just sits (!) on the rubber doughnuts which allows the tranny, mount, and plate to raise up when it wants to. This just doesn't look or sound right to me. The holes in the plate are bigger than the rubber doughnuts, btw.

Anyone have a clue as to what I'm missing or maybe it's improper parts? Was it put together wrong last time? I put it together just as I found it except with a new mount.

The secondary tranny mount (rubber doughnuts) should be larger than the holes. Not all 3rd gens got the secondary tranny mount(mine did), but you can get Energy suspension replacements. You probably just replaced the primary tranny mount.
