just put the posi unit in and swap the gears. the welding wont be dependable and may tear the rear up .

I didn't think the 3.23 gear off the open rear would fit the posi because the posi has a 2.73 gear on it
doesent that make them different seres

I think a by adding a spacer to the 3.23 gear it sould fit the 2.73 carrier.

I may be wrong. I am going from a 2.73 posi and buying a 3.73 gear for this unit. The gear I belive will be thicker for the 2.73 unit. I figure that a spacer on the 3.23 would work for you.

If Im wrong someone help this guy and set me straight. I dont want to stear anyone wrong.

Yeah, if you drive it every day as a means of transportation, having it welded won't be a very good idea.

I did the spacer in my old 10 bolt rear & it worked fine. I went from 2.73 to 3.73. Welding the spider gears is a bad idea especially on the street. Remember you have to go around corners this stresses the axles big time on welded or spooled rears.
