What damage from converter not being seated while bolting tranny up?

I was helping a friend put in a tranny (Kat if anyone here knows him and wants to make fun of him). He didn't have the converter all the way in, and when torquing down the bell housing snapped off one of the dogears and a chunk of the belhousing.

The dogear is pretty easliy repaired..but I'm worried about internal damage to the tranny. from the converter hitting. What do I have to be worried about?

In my s-10 v8 conversion when I was putting the tranny in I didnt have the converter all the way into the tranmission and it bound up so when i went to bolt it up to the flywheel i couldnt turn it. I didnt break the bellhousing, tho. I just pulled the trans back off and re-seated the converter and put it back on. All is well so far.
