is my tranny or TC at fault for these symptoms???

well guys latley my car has been acting very strangly, I got it about 2 months ago and for a month now and every now and then "mainly when the engine is cold or it has warmed up" it has had this sort of bog down and crappy really idle, like when I stop it idles at about 5-400 rpm, and when im driving I will give it gas and I get no response at all, it only happens every now and then, I though it was the new rebuilt 4bbl Q-jet carb not giving gas to the engine, but thanks to my girlfriend, I noticed something that I didn't think of before, I let my girlfriend drive it while it was bogging down " her car is a manual and my car is an auto" and she said the car wasn't shifting properly and thats why it was going that. I didn't believe her but the next day I was driving and I realized that is doesn't seem to shift, I will give it normal gas from a normal stop and it will sit at 2,500 rpm and just whine for like 5 sec then eventually shift, when I am bogging down the tach does the wierdest thing, the rpms stay at 1200 period, it doesn't bug at all, if I give it gas the rpms dont move and the car doesn't respond wich equals the bog, the same thing happens if I completly take my foot off the gas pedal, it will stay at 1200 rpms as if it is locked at that, if I completly floor it then the rpms will stay at 1200 for a second or 2, then shoot right up to like 3700 in OD!

when im stoped I am guessing the car isn't down shifting and staying at 2nd or something, thats why I get the crappy idle, and if I rev the engine, it will either just shoot straight down when I let go of the gas and the car dies, or it will start idling at like 7-800 rpm then drop down to 5-400 a few second later, are my guesses right?

on good days I get no such symptoms and it drives/shifts perfectly, thats why I am guessing it could be the TC locking up when it isnt supposed too or just wigging out.

is this possible guys, have I found the proble?

I have spent $400 bucks trying to get my car to stop doing that.

please help me.

The problem is the locking & not unlocking of the torque converter, when it is supposed too. It could be a short somewhere. Next time when it does this, disconnect the wire harness to the plug on the transmission, and see what happens. Let me know?

well i dont know if its the same one iam thinking about but its on the drivers side of the tranny and you have to crawl under the car and reach way up there and unplug it. it should have 4 wires on it and its towards the rear of the pan.
