I hate auto tranmissions! Now my car is jacked up, no reverse.

5 freaking days after all the trouble with my brothers transmission which is working fine now, my transmission lost reverse. All forward gears are fine The car has been sitting for a week while I painted it, finished painting last night cleaned it up today put it in reverse and nothing, checked fluid and its fine, re checked tv cable, fine. Is something stuck in the valve body?? I put it on jack stands and checked the forward gears and they all catch with no problems, no odd noises, nothing!!! I waiting a day or two more before I pull the transmission pan I don’t want to contaminate the fresh paint.
Any suggestions???? I dont want to loose the 700r4 now especially since I put in the 3.42's.

Thanks

It will have to come out to be fixed. I am guessing that you have a broken sun shell. It could be something else, but you will still need to pull it out. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

That sucks. If thats the case I guess its back to 2.73's and the TH350.
Would there be any metal in the pan if the sun shell went or burnt band material?? I'm going to drain the pan in an hour or so, just want to know what to look for and so on..

Well I drained the pan and nothing theres no metal on the magnet or clutch gunk, I even pushed all the fluid out of the cooler line and ran all of it through 2 paint filters nothing I'm going to pull the valve body down (my favorite job) and see if somthing is stuck in a passageway, I dont really know what I'm looking for I just hope I dont ruin the gaskets. LOL I'll probably have to go down and buy a B&M shi+ kit just for gaskets if I wanna drive this car monday.
Oh well.
Thanks for the reply.

:lala: I can breath now!!!

For some unknown reason the presure regulator valve retaining clip let loose and the valve was in the bottem of the bore. The clip was stuck in the second round magnet right in the center big fnord C6 magnet and a stock pad magnet. How the hell did the pressure regulator clip come undone?????????????

It works great now!
