I hit a curb and bent the axle shaft cuz tire wobbles even after I got a new wheel. Don't drink and drive!!!!

GM says the the GH3 2.77 borg-warner rear end can have two different ring gear sizes and they need to know which one I have in order to tell me which axle shaft to buy.

How can I tell what ring gear size I have without opening rear end? Does it say on the little tag on diff cover or is it stamped on the housing?

I've got an 89 IROC w/ 5.7 tpi and 700R4.

you have to pull the cover to change axle anyway so it shouldn't matter if you do now and pull the axle
