When I push in the clutch, put it in gear and rev the engine I hear a grinding noise.

Now the clutch is still depressed so Im not actually "in" gear, I just have the stick in place. It drives fine, but this never happened before and Im worried. Its a 305tbi w/ original T-5 and a two year old clutch. Any ideas?
Thanks

You hear the noise with the clutch disengaged (pedal down) and the transmission in gear. Nothing is turning inside the transmission under these conditions. The noise isn't coming from the gear box. I suspect the throw-out bearing. What are the answers to these Q's...
Do you hear the noise with the clutch engaged (pedal up) and the transmission in neutral? Everything is turning, except for the throw out bearing. I suspect the answer is "no".
Do you hear the noise with the clutch disengaged (pedal down) with the transmission in neutral? I think you'll hear the noise now, if it's the throw out bearing.

Actually I have to put it in neutral to get the noise to stop. But I think you may be right. Ever since I had my clutch replaced(for some reason I shopped the work out) I've had clutch "chatter" when you put no pressure on the clutch. The slightest pressure(Im talking about very lightly resting your foot on it) and it stops. I was told that this was because of the throw out bearing. Related? Im not sure, but I'd guess they are. So what do you guys think?
You described the exact same problem I was having with mine. Clutch was only 1 year old. I'd had the problem before so knew what to look for. Tore it apart and changed the throwout bearing and the problem is gone.

If you recently had the clutch replaced, I bet they didn't install a new throw-out bearing.. have them put a new one in since it sounds like they didn't (their cost of course) Give it a shot.
