Is it hard to do the rebuild yourself? I have some mechanic skills and pretty much do all the work on my car.... so i was just wondering if anyone tried to and how difficult it really is. Any tips or tricks would be appricated also and if anyone can refer me to some websites that i can use.

People always get up in arms about how hard the 700r4 is, let me tell you first, rebuilding it is NO different than rebuilding any other gm tranny, or any other auto for that matter. Cleanliness is 100% important. Im talking sanatized. NEVER NEVER use red shop towels to wipe down parts. Get a good ATRA manual, or similar one. I can remember back to my first 700r4.....was 17 and i left out a thrust washer.....basically the planetary sets welded themselves together. Bad thing. lay everythingout in order on the bench as you ggo.....tag stuff...make sure you id all the thrust washers. Take your time, have fun
