9 Bolt vs. 10 Bolt Rear End

What are the differences between the 9 and 10 bolt rear ends? Which is stronger? And don't say 1 bolt. LOL

Car: 90 Formula, 02 ws6
Engine: 305 tpi, ls1
Transmission: 700r4, t-56
Axle/Gears: stock posi 2.73, 12 bolt with 4.11s
actualy the 9 bolt is stronger because its ring gear is 7.75" when the ten bolts ring gear is only 7.5" or 7.625"
the 9 bolt also does not use c-clips to hold the axles in which also make it better choice for drag racing
9 bolts are better but you must also take into account price and avalibility of parts
i have a 9 bolt and i have only found 1 place online that sells a new posi for it and it is $550 but 10 bolt posis are very avalible in many different styles and kinds and cost half as much
and all the rest of the parts for a 9 bolt are hard to find as well and costs more
so you have to think
strangth or price
its your call
i plan to built a 12 bolt for my car

9 bolt is stronger, but parts are more rare and expensive.

It's all on my page at www.9bolt.com I have brand new posi units available for 445, gear sets to 4.10 and other stuff.

Check the FAQS section for reasons the 9 bolt is much stronger.

I talked to him about a month ago and he said that he was going to have one out at the end of last month but who knows what kind of problems he might have had with getting them at first.

The covers being worked on / tested, are almost done. It will be this spring sometime. I will post when they are readily available or check the page www.9bolt.com
