Ok you know on the coil it is round with a square of metal around it. go out and start your car in the dark and look at your coil.

inside that square piece, it look like its hollow inside, but I can see blue light glowing from inside there, and as i rev the engine it glows more.

also I could hear a ticking over there which is the sprk leaking from the round part of the coil the the square piece,

now with my EGR problems gone the car run fine but I am leaking spark. and it could of been doing that forever.

is mine leaking or are they all like this.

if its dark, run out n check, let me know plz.

its not leaking and jumpingto any part of the car or engine just from the round part to the square of metal that goes around it, but inside that square, so it is hard to see it but the glow.

Thats just wrong they should last forever, well kinda.

Could mean I got a problem else where, coil has so much juice and the car is not sucking it up. so it is now finding an easier way out.

anyone even use any dual core wire
8mm wires, hotshots i think?

8.5mm 9mm???

Well , I think it depends on how much you drive it and weather conditions . For ex - I drive to school which is an hour away . The weather down here is REALLY humid alot , even in the winter sometimes . In the summer its just FREAKIN HOT down here . Highs usually 95-98 . I don't expect my coil to last forever with these conditions of 1. driving for longer periods of time for two hours a day . 2. driving for longer periods of time for two hours a day WITH these HOT weather conditions . and 3.Just driving around in the summer for work or wherever with these FREAKIN HOT weather .
Now if your driving for a total of an hour and a half a day mid to light driving , it should last a long time ! ....Thats interesting about your coil though , I will have to check mine !

Also , where the coil is located , is REALLY a sucky place for it .No pun intended , well the pun is on GM for placing in there .The heat and vibration from the motor ! I had a new coil mounted in that spot before that only lasted a year ! I mounted my MSD gm blaster on the firewall .I just took a chance of hitting something in the wall , lol guess that wasn't to smart . I dont know there may not be anything behind it where I put mine .

well the coil going bad could be my fault, closer inspection the 8mm wires i thought i bought are really 7mm wires.

I notice this when i was shortening my coil wire, it was tooo long about 5 inches too long.

I'll bet the humidity in Modesto is much lower than Baton Rouge!

I live in Savannah, which is a 98 degree 98 percent humidity steambath from April to September, much like Baton Rouge (I have been to the Bayou!) as far as weather goes.

My brother lives in Tucson, AZ where it is frequently over 110 degrees, but he tells me it FEELS hotter in Savannah due to the humidity.

It depends on the day! Last forth of july it was so humid I thought I was go to have to swim through the air. Regular humidity in the summer around here is between 65% and 95%. I don't buy the "it feels hoter the more humid it is". The dry heat just kills me!!!! That could be becuase I used to spend a lot of time in upstate New York in the summer and I got used to the humidity. If you happen to get a slight breez it feels so good when it is humid. The wind in a dry heat is like an oven!!!!!!!!!!!

86 ramair, I own an Accel coil, stock mounting point and I have the same blue glow!!!

I'm so happy you bring this up, I just noticed it about a week and a half ago and it's good to know I'm not alone.

I'm going to get an MSD remote mount coil and a 6A box for my birthday, hopefully that'll fix me up good.

The factory coil in my 1985 S-10 Blazer is still good.
211,500 miles.
I used an Accel coil in that truck for 130K (of those 211,500) also.
The coil in my Firebird is an Accel.
I just came from back outside.
No, mine doesn't glow.
I also do not have my coil mounted over the exhaust.
If it's bad, return it for a free one from Accel.
Contact Mr Gasket tech for the way to exchange it.
Accel exchanges their stuff.
These cars run fine with 7mm wires, too.
