I saw that.
I'm not going to Florida to prove I can race for only $2002!
I'll spend that $2002 on a motorhome to drive cross country and retreive my final stuff from my back east younger life.
And the 1976 Honda CB200 motorcycle I bought!
Anyone have a roll top desk for sale?
Looking for one for my Wife.
I may be able to purchase a 1979 Chevy motorhome w/31K miles.
Maybe get to finally see the USA in a Chevrolet, after being told that phrase all my life (ad campaign from the mid-60's to 70's).
Would love to install a 700R4 tranny in that for extra gas milage & get up & go!
Then take it out for my Wife's 1968 Camaro 6 to become an 8 cylinder one day.

Car: 13 Ram 1500/ 78 Formy
Engine: 5.7 / 7.4
Transmission: 6sp / TH350
Axle/Gears: 3.55 posi / 3.23
I'm ashamed of you Karl

Talking about RV'ing, going cross country & complaining about milage and not even contemplating gearvendors

you get the :nono:

back to topic: $2002 would go far on my car, about 1200 should do for everything else (pending more 3am fubar's)
money will go even farther on cars that actually run

Com'n Get real.
Gear vendors is a great idea.
BUT
for half cost of GV unit (about $2500 or so?)
I can install a 700R4 Built up strong!
I've known of GV units since the 60's on Motion products (like the Vettes & Camaro's on the street & track).
Plus an original non rebuilt 1979 TH350 (in this motorhome I'll bet-haven't seen/don't know) is an ok tranny compared to a non rebuilt 1979 TH400.
So a hopped up current modern 700R4 for the cost & install is a better value to me.
Wish I could have kept that 1969 Camaro I was given.
Coulda turned that into a $2002 car easy!
Can you say "Repro 1969 stark interior of Trans Am Racer & primer black, all cheap pick your part motor & subframe from old Nova"?

Well, I ain't goin' to Florida ether - but what if they had 'em all across the country ? In every state? Not sure that I'd compete - but I'd sure like to watch. Rembember when Hot Rodding was fun - not just the guy with the most bucks wins?
I like the idea of the Road Course too, I feel that its a better test of a car's performance - as a CAR. Someone on one of the other boards sed somthing about the V6's handle'n better than the V8's (thats yet to be proven).

Actually 100% TRUE!
V-6 cars RULED the SCCA gymkahanas very well during the 80's for the exact reason you stated.
PLUS
This also lead to the upgrade gas tank design of the 1990 models (to prevent fuel from leaving the pick up to early during hard cornering).
Often asked by magazine writers (during early-mid-80's) was if they would produce a SCCA V-6 specific car, as they did for the IROC series.
The F-41 & Y-99 packages were ordered for these exact purposes on many of the V-6 3rd Gen F Body cars.
IF you have a V-6, 5-Speed & F-41/Y-99 package, No AC, you've got one great handling spirited ride!
PLEASE don't make me dig up the article.
So buried by the move.....
But really true!

As much as I gripe about the motor being jamed up against the firewall, it IS set BEHIND the front wheels.. + a lot less weight.
