Electronic Advance
IGNITION SYSTEM SERIES NO. 60
The Mallory Electronic Advance Ignition System is a true user programmable advance curve system. Using a CMOS microprocessor for advance calculations, the 8 position DIP switch
allows you to select from 4 different starting RPM settings when it starts advancing, 8 different rates of advance and 8 different maximum advance values for a total of 256 different combinations! The Mallory Electronic Advance Ignition System consists of a Hall Effect triggered distributor and an external control unit. The system will drive both OEM and Mallory high performance coils and will also trigger one of the Mallory HYFIRE® Series of Electronic Ignition Controls. If you want to optimize your high output engine for the best possible performance, you need a Mallory Electronic Advance Ignition System.

PERFORMANCE FEATURES
• Hall Effect pickup.
• Improved combustion efficiency
and economy.
• Maintenance free operation.
• Accurate spark timing.
• Fully programmable electronic advance

That's a straight cut&paste from the mallory online catalog, it says # 4569201 is a 37/45 Unilite distributor that will fit 84-87 2.8's. Doesn't look like it's computer compatible, though, and you're missing the external control unit that they talk about. Look at the pic on the online catalog, page 16. But for $10, if it turns out to be worthless, it'd make a cool paperweight.

ten bucks for a paper wieght, i dunno about that...

I just rebuilt mine, can be done VERY cheap and labor is free.

Do a search for Ked85's post on rebuilding the dist.

It is a great outcome for a little amount of money, better than gambling.

I had my mechanic check the fuel pump thats fine he said its ignition related.

Maybe I'm missing an inside joke or something on the $10 bit, but I just want to clarify that Mallory's Unilite Non-vacuum Distributor part # 4569201 runs aprox. $270.00

It is also not smog legal in calif. so keep the stock one for that or pray the smog police don't catch it on the visual insp.

Ya get the Hood?
Rebuild the distributor.
It's so easy!
Bring it over.
As an FYI
These 6 cylinder coils with remote coil are very high tech, once rebuilt, easily and correctly.
Back in the 60's things like our 60* distributors were so far outta reach of almost every driver.
Except the rare Factory Experimental racing teams.
Seventies HEI distributor were like nightmares.
Once the innards are cleaned, fresh lube and specs just right,
your engine sings to the upper RPM's.
Think how much other stuff you could buy for $270....
Rebuilding costs-
for the cost of gaskets (what $2?)
modular ($40+?)
Cap & rotor ($20-ish)
Plug wires (can be free or about $10 for that Crane Cam set or what brand was it giving away the stuff?)
Plugs?($10 or so)
About $100 or less in all the parts you can replace minus coil.
Can you say new tires
OR
a Great Date with a beautiful woman
Wine her & Dine her!
Then dessert!
