4th Gen

Anyone add a 4th Gen to their stable of Camaro's? I have been looking at a few 2001's and might get one here in a few, but I want to know if:

The stock stereo is okay?, What you ran stock in the 1/4...

The stereo is fine . I've been in some 4th gens . The stock ..STOCK time for the 4th gen 3.8 is 15.70s ....If you dont like the stereo , you can always put in an aftermarket . I've seen 3.8s modded running in the 14s before . I even know a guy that has a 95 3.8 that is modded and runs 14.40s.

My girl's stereo blew... it was a bose 3-speaker; a 6.5" in each door, and a "subwoofer" in the back hatch. The sub was a joke, and the 6.5's sucked. I think she had the car a few months until I ripped all of that crap out, threw it in a box, and put a real stereo in. Hehe, the original sub is still back there, disconnected... didn't want to go thru the trouble of removing it completely.

Bose system sucks.
The Mongoose is slighly better.
The Delco is not that bad.

But nothing compares to a good aftermarket system.

must be nice I wish I could own a 98+ T/A with a LS1...

Only 4th Gen that looks good

4th Gens are all power and no show
3rd Gens are all show and little power (even the eights)

I always have wanted to do a LT1 project (preferably into a 85-90 T/A. Best of both worlds!

I think you mean Monsoon. Last time I checked a Mongoose was a bicycle.

If it matters, I still got the stock Delco stuff in my Grand Am, and I have no complaints about it.

I dont know about the stereo, but I do know that LS1's run low 13's stock assuming the weather is decent and you can hookup ok.

The stock stereo is fine IMO. As far as 1/4 times I have seen anything from 12.XX ( GMHTP got one into the 12's ) to 13.4-13.5.
Of course a lot depends on the tranny and the driver. Check out www.ls1.com for a lot more info.
