i have 235/60/14s on and i was wondering of the speedo should be accurate with these,

 

That would depend on what your stock tire size is. Check your door sticker, and compare. Of course the other way to test is to find a highway with mile markers get a stop watch and time a mile. 60sec per mile at 60mph....of course your in canada so I dont know how to measure kph/time

 

that would be 100km/h,. but the easiest is to get someone to pace with me, but i dont know if 225/65/15 is the same or not? i think that was stock size, the doors are from another car and painted over now anyways

 

I have found it you go to tirerack.com and look up a tire by size they have a chart showing it's hieght in inches, you could look up the stock size which was probably 195/75/14 on a base Sport Coupe and compare it to what you have now.

For example, the 195/75/14 was standard on my '91 S10, and I went to 245/60/14's and they were much wider but the same hieght.

I am running 215/65/15's on both my 1987 Camaro Sport Coupe and my 1989 Camaro RS. The Sport Coupe's door sticker was long gone, and Les Schabe's tire store said that was stock size, so I went with it. In the case of the RS, the door sticker is intact, and does say 215/65/15.

 

The stock size would be 215/65/15's. Well that is the size I always use to figure out speedo readings. Cause were both Canadian we will baffle them with Metric measurements.

Tire width 215 235
Tire height(from rim) 13.975 cm 14.1 cm

Okay the 215/65/15 gives you a tire radius of 13 inches or 33 cm
The 235/60/14 gives you a radius of 12.55 inches or 31.88 cm

So that means the speedo reads a tire at 26 inches and yours are 25.10 inches. So I would say your speedometer is off. But it should not be by too much.

I used the equations on the main page, and came up with an average of about 3-4km/h (2mph) slow. So I would not worry about it then.

With a smaller diameter tire, the tire has to rotate more times per mile to go the same distance which means it reads faster than you are actually going.
