warning warning warning what ecm do you have !!!!!

ok guys iv been having troubles with a v6 camaro as of late.trouble is when i went to tune the prom there was a catch. it seesm some of the 2.8 v6 cars form 85-86 were built with 2 different ecms. one is the 1226870 the other is the 1227302. well the good news is that this is no big deal. it onlys means that when you buy a chip you should be very clear about which ECM you have. as these two different ecm's have different programming code. now in theory if you were to order the wrong chip you could switch the calpak and be ok. however i suggest you keep the right code in your ecm becuase im not sure about the hard rom. so in short if you order a chip have the ECM part number ready it will be 1226870 or 1227302.

got it good just wanted to clear that up. i thought i was chasing a S/D update that turned out to be a modfied version of the 5.0 or some carzy **** code like that. anwyas THIS IS A WARNING !!! do not assume you have the ecm you think you do

Warning warning

ps this could also be why some cars run worse after a chip install !!!!!:lala: :lala: :lala: :lala:

the '7730 is the best of the 3 comps avail for the 3rd gen. the '302 is the next best I think.

well the 1227730 doesnt appear until 1988. and still its kind of scattered about. most of the 3rd gens i see are maf cars. in 1990 however map gets popular. this post was aimed directly at 1985-1986 owners as thisa could cuase cofusion when gettin a new ECM or eprom.
