What did you guys pay for your cars.. when did you get it.. what condition was the body in.. what was wrong w/ it mechanically and how many miles did it have on it...
just curious on what people in here drop on a v6 fbody...

i got my 87 bird in december of 2001. got it for $2500. nothing is wrong with it and the body is in good shape. could use a paint job though. its got around 20-25,000 miles on it scince the rebuild. i bought it off my cousin. he put over $7000 into rebuilding it. i watched him rebuild it in my dads garage.
I bought my V6 Fbody back in May 1995! With only 37,000 original miles on it. Bought it at my local Chevy dealer for $7,800. Had really nice paint, body was pretty good. Had some minor rust on bottom rear quarters. Had minor oil/coolant leaks when I bought it, so it was covered under warranty. It was two freeze plugs, intake gaskets, valve cover gaskets, front crank seal, and dist. O-ring. Most of this stuff is very common to happen on these motors. 90% of these leaks are STILL fixed!!! Only one came back! The dist. O-ring. Common to fail, just dries out after a while.
The car now has A LOT of stuff done to it since then. Going on
76,000 miles on the car now. Recent paint job ( 1999-2000),
Tires, alignments, brakes w/ rebuilt cailpers, wheel cylinders,
pads, shoes, exhaust, hoses, belt, fluid changes, tune ups,
modifications...Really too much to mention!
I had recently replaced my rear suspension today with new Spohn performance rear control arms and panhard rod. BIG DIFFERENCE!!! I also made a custom air intake system with a K and N air filter, also a BIG DIFFERENCE!!!!

not a dime, although my father did. In 1985 he paid somewhere in the neighborhood of 12k for the bird. beautiful car in and out, and still was when i got it on the outside, inside needed alittle work, still in need of a good portion of it. carpet, headliner, and seats. The carpet will be the last to go, headliner will be next unless i find the seats first, had a set and the kids dad was going to save them for his friend instead of me. dang. body is still damn good, one of the straightest thirdgens you'll ever see around these parts, never beaten down or antyhing. Have put my fair share of money into it, 3k in the engine and transmission, so i guess that's what i've paid. lol. Oh, and you've gotta love knowing that you have one of those SUPER RARE , LOL factory overhead consoles sitting right between your t-tops. lol.

bought mine 6 years ago this summer with 350,000 miles on it of my hot rodding grandmother for HAHAH $1.00 tranny slipped a little from 3rd to 4th ended up rebuilding it in 2001 has 484,000 on it now paint was good at the time up north and all with this damn texas heat i couldn't help the hood and roof its just oxidizing to ****. :-( 2 years ago my mom hit a sign in it at 80 mph she cracked the front bumper cover by the rf turn signal bent the hood down over the headlights made a 8" slash on the pass side of the windshield up top (BITCH NOW ITS NOT ORIGINAL) and the sob came down on the rr quarter panel right behind the pass door needless to say its a v shaped CREASE about 2.5 feet long and real real real ugly :-(
haven't had the money to fix it.
but it still runs great considering the miles

I bought my 89 2.8 Bird just over a year ago for $3000 with 82k miles on it . The only problems I have had was broke vacuum lines and EGR valve. The clear coat is messing up but other than that real good car.

I paid 790.00 for my car 3-4 years ago. guy wanted 800 but gave me 10 for gas. he was all like you really should talk people down but the whole time I was there i just wanted him to take the 800 and gimme the title so i could leave with my prize.
He wanted to look around it, go for a ride and ****, i was like just gime the keys. i wanted to get out of there before i started my evil laugh of victory.
blue book was 2600 on it.

$1700 for my 3.1 '90 bird with 134,000 on it in August 2001. Only problems so far have been rust starting to bubble up the paint in a couple spots on the rear quarters, and I think it needs a new tranny mount (thumps when you give it hard gas from a standstill). (I saw the car the first day it was on the lot, and within a couple of hours their were alot more people interested in it, but I still managed to talk him down from $2800 to $1700

I paid $3000 for my 85 back in 1998. It had a little over 65000 miles on it. From 1998 until now, the car got new injectors, alternator, fuel pump, tires, exhaust and distributor. That is all in addition to a regular oil changes and tune ups. I also added fog lamps and louvers to enhance its appearance. It's now for sale.
I bought my 83 in late 98 with a bad rod knock for $300. I got another 2.8 off of my uncle for free and spent the next three years doing the swap and fixing my mistakes. After the 85 is sold, it will get painted and some nice boneyard seats.
My 86 was acquire for $250. It has recently had another motor put in (old one developed a knock due to low oil pressure) and I am exploring my options for bodywork. So far, both doors, the hood and DS fender have been replaced. Interior wise, the rear cushions and headliner have been replaced

Bought in August, 2001 for $1000:
1987 Camaro Sport Coupe, 2.8L V6, 5-speed manual, T-Tops, white. Speedo said 98,000 when bought.
Good car, runs great, sounds great. Needs a paint job (real bad chipping on nose). Decent interior (the usual wear on driver side seat). I have but 22,000 miles on it since I bought it.
Bought in July 2002 for $1800:
1989 Camaro RS, 2.8L V6, 5-speed manual, T-Tops, kind of a maroon color. 87,000 miles.
Another good car. Runs just as good as the '87 although seems to be a little more peppy. Decent gray interior.
So far I've put in it: MSD Blaster GM, MSD Superconductor wires, Holley Ignition Control Module, full tune-up. Exhaust is next.
No major problems with either. They're great cars and I enjoy them quite a bit.

$950 6 months ago. '89 RS, bad paint, soon needed water pump.
Got 'er a tune up and cleaned the throttle body. Runs good, looks ok, drove it 500 miles round trip to lousiana the first weekend.

Bought my 86 last August for 1700.00 and the body is flawless but it needs a paint job and the interior is in great condition, But mechanic wise........NOT SO GOOD, I am on the third motor that is currently getting rebuilt, Water Pump, Starter, O2 Sensor, Tune-Up, Heater Core, VSS. Hmmmm wonder why I kept it? I LOVE CAMARO'S THATS WHY

$2900 back on December 30th of '93, with 65,000 miles. Body was in great condition, motor was in great condition, etc. Interior was a little beat up, but that was it. It was a hell of a better deal than the ragged out V8 f-bodies that were selling for the same price.
I bought it in June 95 with 82,000 miles on it .
Did not look that bad the day I bought it , but I replaced the back tail light ( it was broken) .
bought a new antenna ( was bent bad , looked like $hit)
that was only done within the first year I had it .
2 years ago it got a new motor .
about 5 months ago it got a new tranny with shiftkit .
Neato things that came with the car include :
-Original window sticker , folded up sitting in console .
-maintanence records
-camaro manual
-found builsheet atached to drivers seat last year , still in good shape
-Just today , I got a 1988 camaro brochere in the mail , bought it off ebay with a shifter knod and a few other goodies for $26 bucks

1992 Camaro payed $7,250 only had 48,000 miles on it.
Now has 88,000, and a bunch of new parts but still orignal motor and tranny. Coming up on another set of tires but I'm never going to sell.
Only bad thing was a dumba** at the post office backed into the rear quarter panel between the door and the wheel well on the drivers side below the bump strip. I had it fixed but some day I'm going to have it fixed better when I get rich$.

Picked up my 1992 Firebird 3.1 liter on February 1st 1992. It had 6 miles on it! Window sticker said $15,800 or something like that. I got it for around $12,000, with the discounts and cash back, etc...
I have added a turbo hood, have installed a 75 HP shot of Nitrous Oxide, swapped all the bushings for polyurethane ones, changed out the sway bars with ones from an '84 TA, changed the rear end out for a posi disc-brake one, installed a good sound system, and basically I have driven the crap out of it. Has a good straight body, 166K miles, and still gets nearly 30 MPG on the interstate. My next addition is a set of 1986 TA 16" wheels with 245-50-ZR16 Kuhmo's on them. That is going to happen in about another week.
That car put me through engineering school, carried me on about 95% of the dates I had with my wife(2+ years of dating), and was really my first car. I love it and don't ever plan on getting rid of it.

I bought my 1992 Firebird in Sept. 01 for $4,300. When I first saw he she had 60,000 miles. And now she's got 70,400. I would rate her overall condition a 9 out of 10. Was was well taken care of by her previous owner (gotta love female owners).
Over the past year I did alot of things. To name a few...
new starter, flowmaster exhaust, charged a/c (btw...R12 recharge is $70 per pound...ouch), rear window tint, 4 raised white lettered tired, new headunit, two 12" kenwood subs, and more...

I bought my 91 2 years ago with 69,000 miles. It was wrecked in the front. But the rest of the car was mint, had the cleanest interior i have ever seen in a thirdgen. paid 1800.
Actually there is a funny story to this, i looked at the car when it wasn't wrecked, he wanted 4200. The next day he calls me and tells me he wrecked it, but now he will take 3000. I was like no way, he begged me to come out just to take a look and told me he would make me a deal. So i went out, and came home with it for 1800.
The repairs only would of been 800 to 900 dollars, but when i was getting an estimate at the shop, a guy delivering parts to the dealer hit my car, and drug it across the lot. It totally trashed the rear, so i got 3500 bucks from them. Me and my dad did the body and paint work, and i had 1500 bucks left.:lala:

I paid $2200 for mine just about a year ago. It had 96k on it, the pass. fender was dented and the hood and trunk lid had oxidized ($650 to have it repainted. Now the roof is starting to oxidize
) Mechanically it was fine until I started messing with it
(Ran great until January, when I decided I'd try and do a tune-up and made the mistake of taking it into my ignitions class so we could take apart the distributor.) I've probably put as much as a paid for it into the car in just the year I've had it. The guy I bought it from had to sell it cause he'd just had a heart attack and he didn't think he could handle the camaro anymore.
