I'm not really sure about how to fix thoes type of shifter handles.

But I definately don't have a problem getting it up.
And If I did, I wouldn't admit it.

You could try a snap ring. Slide the shifter **** up into position and then put the snap ring under the **** onto the shifter. The only other thing is to get a new shifter **** from a junkyard.

I think that usually the afore mentioned problem is oppisite of what you mentioned.

On a side note, replace that ulgy yucky shifter handle.
Go to the junk yard, and find one from a GM, most will fit.

And usually you can get them for free "wink wink"

I always new there was a use for the bottom of my tool box...

That poor Ball is all lonly and sh*t. Put it out of it's misery....

Becarefull . They do toolbox checks down here . I have never had mine checked because my toolbox is so freakin heavy I dont bring it in the boneyard . But EVERY junkyard I go to I see " we reserve the right to check toolboxes" on a sign written behind the counter . I don't advise stealing anything ...come on guys...ya'll are better than that ...

Awesome title! Sounds like a damned good excuse to put a console megashifter in! I put mine in back in '97, and have had no problems, other than a worn shift cable, which I just replaced last week. Got it thru Summit, of course. (This isn't my car, it's the picture from the B&M website, by the way. There's no wood trim in my car! Haha)

although that wood trim looks damngood, lol. It's probably in a corvette with a 700R4 or one of those transam's that were modded by some aftermarket company. Can't recal the name of the company that modded them, or the name of the car either, looks kinda like a firebird but not, they changed a bunch of panels onthe exterior, and then changed the gfx too....but they also came equipped with wood trim, it was the "rich mans" muscle car, supposed to be a world touring car like a feraria, on an american chassis.

With my firebird ****, we use a little U-pin which slides into the middle of the shifter **** setup. Maybe you dropped that when you took it off? or wasthere anotehr brace or something that you might have taken off and forgot to put back on? best luck, if you can't find what you're missing, go to the bone yard, look at those camaros, pull appart their shifter ***** and slap that on, better yet, find a firebird **** and put it on. The hurst styled t handle is much better looking....IMHO.

Actually you are right, it's a second gen (70-81) Firebird that they show. There's two models of megashifters, one for 2nd gen, one for 3rd gens.
