A HOLE w/oil?

I was looking down at my 2.8 V6 right next to the oil sending unit and there is this hole to the left of it and I can see oil in there! Um, is this supposed to be like this????? I wouldn't think so.

a hole in the block ? Or where ? If its in the block it sounds like your freeze plug , is it leaking any oil ? Or maybe it just has a film of oil on it ?

Nah, it's not a freeze plug. It is about a half inch circular hole to the left of the oil sending unit. I am not sure if it is film or not, I was just looking down there tonight and saw it. I haven't really had a chance to investigate it yet.

are you sure you're looking @ the oilsending unit & not the fuel pump switch? I'm looking in the manual, & the lower of the two is for the fuel pump.

1. Check engine baay for oil
2. Check oil level
3. If oil good, have someone crank/start motor while you observe area (wear gogulators just in case)
4. check leaking oil.

I have the hole too, no oil comes out of it. It's because before there would be a separate gage sender and a FP sender. GM combined it on the later years, but kept the same hole for the separate one. They plugged it w/ something. As long as it doesn't leak, you're fine. (The gauge sender might have to be replaced soon though)
