do i have timing chain or a belt on these 3.1 LHO's?

Timing Chain, if you're going to replace, get the double roller one. To replace you have to remove the water pump, so get a new one.
700R4 is NOT electronically controlled. 4L60 is the 700R4, just a new name, 4L60-E IS electronically controlled (hence the E)
