Does that mean flooring a car while in neutral and then slamming it into gear?

Yes. Neutral dropping is way worse then dumpnig a clutch on a manual tranny (as alot of people believe N dropping is the same as), and almost as bad if not worse then brake burning. I would say not to do it at all. But again that is your call.

There is only one time when you should do neutral drops . This is when you want to replace your tranny !

You SHOULD NEVER do neutral drops !!!!

What is brake burning ? ...I prabably know this under a differnt name .

brake burning is the term used when you have the emergency brake on and floor it. i've heard it refered to as brake locking

Not the emergency brake.
Actually what you do is step on the brakes and press on the gas at the same time. This causes the front brakes to grab while the rear tires burn out.

You burn up the first gear tranny clutch inside the transmission and builds up a lot of pressure on other parts plus builds up a lot of HEAT.

yea....when you "power brake" as i like to call it.you really can mess up your car because you are burning up the tranny...and you can also really mess up the drums...my friend had brake shoe stuck to his after doing it one day...however...if you seldom do it and do it right it looks good...the trick is to start spinning the tire a little bit...then popping up the brake pedal and flooring...i've left huge clouds of smoke before with only a little "power braking"....but as an everyday thing...i wouldn't do it to often...

anyone else just sitting back laughing at this thread???

netural drops are hella dumb

powerbraking isnt as bad but close. if you were to goto the drag strip you would power brake it, to get the tires spining inthe water to do a burn out like you see on tv.

real drag racers can just lock the front brakes but in a street car you barley hit the brake just so its enough drag the front to get the rear tires spining.

if you watch bike drags you will see them hold the front brake while they do the burn out.

Now when I was not that smart i use to powerbrake my 79 camaro all the time. till there was a thick fog of tire smoke, but its a waste of tires and not that smart.

If you really dont care about doing damage and want to do something really cool, do a reverse J.

thats where you fly in reverse, cut the wheel sharp to turn around and drop it in drive.

if it just that your car wont peel out, or you want to "impress" people.

you can install a second wiper fliud container in your trunk with a switch up front. run the hoses out the top of your wheel wells, so your spraying a mixture of soap n water on top of your tires.

straight laundry soap will make a really nice thick smoke, tinted the color of the soap.

Again I had that when i was not too smart and would do burns out a block long.

Power braking is the best thing since sliced bread... except of course being able to smoke 'em without touching the brakes...

With my 6, I can hold the brakes firmly, slam the gas and let off the brakes a little and I get some nice spinage that way...

The rubber ones like to break under any stress... they're not good for people that like to floor the car, like we do. If you put the ES poly mount in (from SummitRacing.com for $20) you'll never have a problem again.

Plus, too, remember, guys with open rears (do any of us have a posi? I had one, but we know how that ended )- when you're doing a powerbrake and that rear tire is spinning and your speedo says 30 mph- remember that tire is doing 60 mph!! It's doubled because it's not a posi unit. Just something to keep in mind....
