As much as I hate to tell you man , You'll get smoked . Those cars were fast in the 80s .

BUT , I still think your 3rd gen camaro is a much better looking car than mustangs .

LOL well if you have a cam and a 3.4L you might stand a chance against a bone stock 5.0 but if that guy just polishes his ports and adds headers he is GONE. the 302 is know for its crap in the exhaust ports, it's it's only weakness.

BUT YES the camaro is WAY better looking, those mustangs thats all they have is that 5.0 the rest of the car WAS POS and still is to THIS DAY, i mean how many do you see on the road compared to camaras it's like 10 to 1.

well in the end of the day, you still go home knowing that you drive a nice looking car, and something that everyone and their brother doesn't have You also have a knowledge of cars! So when his little 5.0 breaks, he will then shut his mouth...

Better yet when his little 5.0 breaks he will come running to YOU and you can be like "Should've been driving a Camaro" and walk way leaving him figure it out.

I'm not putting down any of your knowledge on 5.0's but a stock 5.0 is VERY (most are modded) rare and most would murder our wee v6's. There are exceptions like an automatic GT convertible with 200,000 miles on a motor that needs to be rebuilt. Even then, if you don't have some decent mods, he will beat you. I think a bunch of 5.0's came from the factory with headers. Sure they sucked but they are better than our crap exhaust manifolds. The fastest 5.0 was an 87 lx notch 5.0 and it ran a 13.9 in the quarter. Most people cannot drive for crap and they will usually run a high 14. Which is more than enough to kill all of us. Sorry guys, but anyone that knows the least bit how to drive a 5.0 will beat you.

OK...I have to say something...
When I first bought my 65' stang with a 4.7L (289) I KILLED nixon1's camero...Later I discovered I had 16 leaking valves, NOT TO MENTION 2v carb, single crempt bent exhost, really old and nasty air clearner, and exhost manifolds.

Hey, I tied you once! (Cause you f--ed up...) Still, even with your engine being a hunk of crap, it still evens out. Let's say your 220 horses (if thats what it is, I forget) were reduced to only 130 horsepower. Guess what? You'd STILL kick my ***. Why? Weight. I'd mention my transmission difficulties too, but yeah, you have a 3 spd auto so I have no room to talk... I'm not even gonna bring up the Saturn thing AGAIN.... That just makes me want to cry...

Hence my saying "cause you f---ed up"... BTW, you've gotta stop saying '3rd gear'...makes you sound like an idiot. Say 3...or D. They're different things...

dude, just because you have a crappy chevy trany doenst mean every one does. I can keep my tranny from shifting up. Otherwise it shifts about 2000 rpm's instade of 4800, my redline. Tommarow I'll take you for a ride. Well launch in first, I'll put on a smoke show, Then I'll launch from 3rd and charp the tires before it shifts...

Ok, to begin with. I understand you're saying you get a much more powerful launch in 1. What I'm saying is by launching in 3 (D), you're not actually launching from 3rd gear like you're saying.. I dont know what actually goes on, all I know is the throttle response and power is restained. The only comparison I can make is how my throttle response in Drive is MUCH quicker and more powerful than in Overdrive, EVEN THOUGH the car hasn't actually engaged the Overdrive. Get what I mean? And the fact that your auto shifts when you tell it to....well...eh.....screw you.

Ha..I've given up on burning out in reverse....WAY too easy. I much prefer burning out on an ice cold engine..throttle response is insane. I burned out halfway through my parking lot at work and did a lap and came back...a guy driving a BUILT 350 IROC complimented me. Hehe..

I can burn rubber in reverse really cool. And then slam on the brakes and screech to a stop, throw it in drive and pull into the only parking space for 3 blocks around like the other day.
That always makes anyone close by think I have lots of power and stuff.
Just can't peel out forward unless I really don't want to, like trying pull out into traffic. Sure I make a smoke show then.

Lol, YOU SPEAK THE TRUTH... I peeled out the other day big time trying to cross wicked heavy and fast traffic..almost **** myself as the car slowly lurched forward, with me manipulating the pedal all the way trying to gain traction. Argh. I can almost always peel out from a standing stop now cause my drivetire has under the legal tread limit. It has like 1/32 of an inch left.
