V6 cap/ wires/ rotor from local parts store??
hey i think im gonna go ahead and change the cap, rotor, and wires. i knowwe can get them from summit and stuff like that, but i was wondering if any of you got this type of stuff for our v6s at local parts stores (discount auto parts, autozone, napa, pep..)
all i have seen there are v8 stuff on the shelf---do they have this stuff for our cars in stock?? (i know i can just call, but they arent open this time of night!

Sure, you can buy the stuff at Pep Boys, and then they'll special order it, and charge you twice what Summit wants for it. For instance, Summit wants $15.25 for the accel cap/rotor kit for our cars (ACC-8133). For #8133, Pep Boys wants $20. Imagine what they'd charge for a wire set!!
But hey it's up to you where you go.
I always thought Summit was expensive until I started pricing the local speed shops and parts stores.. suddenly, Summit became the least expensive!

I have a bluestreak and Im pretty satisfied with it . but the above cap and rotors the guys listed are also pretty damn good . Id just stay away from the el-cheapo names that are real cheap that you have never heard of .

I got whatever brass cap o'rileys had in stock, for wires, I bought the 35 bux accell spirol coil wires "universal" set for a v8, cut to fit, and I had two extras left
. And for right now, I have the basic sparkplugs, didn't have the green when I fouled out a plug with the egr valve went out. Damn them m/f are expensive.

Did mine a couple of months ago....About $25 from Autozone for cap & rotor, plugs and wires. Wires were a free replacement from the last time they were done. The good ones come with a lifetime warranty

well, tom, the idea was i didnt want to wait for them to be shipped. Now, I am thinking I will just return them and order the right ones (Accel ACC-4079..is that right for my 3.1?)......it is okay to change my cap and rotor and leave the wires for now, right?

Oh, okay, yeah waiting for shipping can be a pain. Are there any other mail order speedshops in your area? Not sure about the part number, go to http://www.mrgasket.com and download the free accel catalog file (.PDF file), it has all the parts #s in there. I've got something running on my comp right now and don't want to risk losing any info by going into acrobat reader.
