Custom shifer stuff...
Ok this is an odd question but..has anyone here taken an auto 3rd gen and gave it a new shift **** with a boot, and gotten rid of the plastic console? I got a nice new, chrome shifter ****, it's auto and everything..works fine except when I click it back, you know how the shifter column sinks into the plate further and further? Well the shifter **** hits it in D or lower, and wants to break it. I wanted to pull the console out, and boot around the big gaping hole..but I can't imagine how I'd get a boot to cover the entire hole, and then go around the shifter, but stay attached everywhere because the shifter moves WAY back and WAY forward, unlike sticks with a limited range of movement. I would cut and sew the boot myself from this blue Hawaiian shirt of mine..
I just want to know if any of you have any ideas on how to set up the boot, BESIDES give it an extremely large amount of slack all the way around..... Thanks guys. FYI, new TPS going in tonight..cross your fingers for me..I hope this fixes my problems.

Tom, waiting for a tranny rebuild for that. This is just temporary. Besides, my tranny is out of whack..I wouldn't be able to take advantage of a mega shifter anyways. It only listens to me and shifts when I throw the shifter from 1 to 2 or 2 to D when I'm at part throttle..WOT, it does what it wants when it wants. And 2 to D is a HORRIFIC lag...it's like an entire 2-3 seconds to shift...Like I'm doing 70 mph, engine screaming, I COMPLETELY let off the pedal, and slowly COMPLETELY go back down on it and it shifts once the pedal hits the bottom again. Ugh. Needs the TV cable tightened too....I'm taking her in for a tranny servicing soon..I figure it needs new fluid and definitely a new filter, so they should be able to do the cable while they're at it. But yeah, for now this is just temporary because I won't have tranny money for, I figure, another year.

By the way, Next Generation sells a B&M Starshifter setup custom made to fit right into 3rd gen Camaros.... It's in the $140 range I believe...

Sweet. I always wanted a ratchet..but I have a lot more work I need to do before I start with something as cosmetic as that for that kind of cash....
I bought a megashifter for 25 bucks used...eyah you heard me 25 bucks and it works perfectly. I just gotta figure out how to make it shift into one more gear...(its set up for a th350/400 tans). In my nova i have a hurst ratchet shifter and that ting is awsome. i definitly recommend the hurst over the megashifter. Next gen has a hurst duel gate shifter i was lookin at gettin. i think it looks like a really nice setup so im hopeing to get the for christmas with my ss stlye hood.

Nice.....Christmas present ideas...lol. I think I should ask for nitrous. Ha...yeah right..realistically though, roller rockers..and a front end alignment...not to mention tires....
Maybe nitrous as a graduation present? Assuming grandparents don't pull resources and give me money for an IROC...now THAT would be sweeeeet....
