My girlfriend's first thirdgen.. read inside
Well tonight we just went and picked up a car for her.. It's an '89 RS 2.8.. Burgandy with almost no options... but here is the deal.. the car only has 30,000 original miles!! It sat in a garage most of it's life so all the rubber had to be replaced... hoses, belts, tires etc... but the person who we bought it from had done that already. The body is in mint condition along with the interior. I was so suprised to find a nice clean gem like this... as soon as I take some pics i'll post them for you guys to see. I personally havent seen any '89 this clean being original. Just thought i'd share that with you

Well the seller wanted $5,500 for it, but we talked them down to $5,000... seems like a lot for a v6 car but it is just in such good shape we coiuldn't pass it up

park the thing in storage, add some fuel Sta-bil. let the value of it build. come on over my way & pick up a 3rd gen v6 camaro for $800, probobly can talk them down, & mod the hell out of it.
You paid a pricey penny for that ride,
BUT
the thoughts of getting another ride isn't to far off.
You did purchase a collector car, low milage.
It will take quite awhile for the car to appreciate in value.
Good score tho.
My Wife's 1968 Secretary Special Camaro (6 cylinder/auto/console/AM radio/power steering) is worth $ome, now.
No, not as much as my 1967 RS/SS 4-Speed Camaro Convertible

Appreciate! Are you kidding me? There only only a handful of cars that appreciate in value two off the top of my head is the Ferrari 250 NART spyder (only 10 made) and the Bugatti Royale (Last time I heard, one was bought for $10,000,000). The only appreciation that will occur will be non-monetary.
Really?

Camaro 1967 $118,800.
Source Sports Car Motors magazine.
Check also any Hemmings and I can go on & on in lists, people walking up to my door asking if they for sale...., too.
One garaged.
One covered.
Next to the 1974 Corvette I paid $4800 & now going for about $8,000+ mild conservative figure.
I've turned down $15,000 for my Wife's Camaro. Twice.
The 1968 goes to my Son, who was taken home from the hospital in that car.
Yeah but a Ferrari 250 Mexico is way better looking!
And I'd take a 1972 Lamburgini (sp) Muria S instead of the Ferrari.
Something about looking over my shoulder & seeing those 12 velocity stacks from the Webers.....
Serious check your sources, the prices for the old classics have goen thru the roof again. Especially since Camaro stopped production.
Hell my 1967 Camaro is worth more than my old 1966 Corvette (20-40K range now)

You mean those
Four automatic ones
And the
Four M-21 Four Speed ones?
What about the ZL1 Corvettes?
Only two or three depending upon whom you believe
or
I think, 7 1971 Hemi Cudas?
maybe the one or two Convertible Hemi Cudas?
What about the ONE Documented L88 1966 Corvette that went to DON YENKO for racing only
I could go on & on for one or two of cars, tho...
Fun ain't it.....
Try the 1963 Swiss Cheese Catalina cars about 12
or the 100 only 1964 Thunderbolts
or the 1968 Dart Hemis
What about the 1955 Corvette that is ACTUALLY THE SECOND CORVETTE EVER MADE
It's a 1953 Corvette car, pulled back from the assembly line to be made into the FIRST V-8 CORVETTE that was released to the public (via car show circuit, not showroom sale) in the 1955 model year!
Fun!!

Ok, KED85. I was only making a generalization. Of course the first and last of any models will have appreciation and so will very limited production and very, very, low milage automobiles, given that they are 100% original and in near Concours condition. There are obviously exceptions.
You showed me.:hail:
Winning on ebay is almost like fishing in a bucket, ya always win....
Seriously at one time the foreigners really made up the BIG DOLLARS ticket classic rides.
Try a Mercedes 1955 Gullwing car I recall going for over a million or the Bugatti Royales going for over several million.....
We all recall the late eighty muscle car boom & the early 90's muscle car bust!
It has started again!
I still laugh.
I paid $3800 for my 1967 in 1983 and that was a fair price for an intact complete non numbers matching ride.
I did pass on a tripowered 1964 GTO convert tho, That was $5K & a fair price then, too.
My dad still wants me to sel the car for the money.
I have't listened to him either!
Know how much Taxes I save with this car?
Undeclared income if sold!!!!!

I agree about the Ebay thing. I see cars that could be worth 10k selling for 4k. You really can get a steal if someone really wants to get rid of thier car at the Depreciation base of Book Value less estimated salvage value. Its so hard to ignore those sunk costs though, which usually reflect in the markup of a seller's minimum reserve.
