Just got my 92 RS today.
And I love it. Its red with T-Tops, 5 speed, 3.1 motor. Its in good running condition. Its a little rough on the edges, but the motor and tranny are great. I plan on getting it lubed and its fluids changed soon.
Since ive had the car, i've already fixed several small little annoyance.. for example, the instrument cluster lights were not working. Boom, replacement fuse. Then we put on a new dome light, then we re-mounted the spare/jack because they were rattling badly.
Not major accomplishments but not bad for having the car for 1 1/2 hours. hehe.
It makes some strange noises that I cant identify, as they are hard to hear over the engine. Im gonna have it looked at ASAP, but for now it drives pretty damn sweet. Needs new exhaust and could really benefit from a complete tuneup. The seats are OK, but could stand to be replaced.. there is minimal vinyl damage and the carpet is good.
Oh yea, I payed 1800 for it.
Pictures will come tomorrow after I wash it.. it badly needs to be bathed.
BTW, V-6s can be a blast to drive!

I was actually fairly impressed at how fast it was. I've never driven a gas hogging torque crunching V-8, but compared to my last car, my Camaro's got some get up and go.
The fact that im a bad *** with a manual may have something to do with it
j/k
Now I get to do the new Camaro dance! :lala:
Forgot to mention. my last car only had 5 less HP stock than the Camaro does..
Of course, the Camaro has more torque.
No more family sedan for me, yay! I have one year left to be a teen and now I have the car I needed to enjoy it. I guess its kinda like an early mid life crisis hehe.

This place is fairly good for us to identify nosies. Track one at a time though. Multipule at one time is hard. I have the jack nosie, but I belive that is due to parts missing. The hatch will rattle. Any "clunk" nosie from the "under middle" body will be a tranny mount, which seems to go bad alot.
Glad you like it, sorry for being *** in earlier post about correcting you on the year.
As you said, the camaro dance, and welcome to the board :lala:

The V6's are slow. Trust me, that 5 speed makes it a BLAST, but they aren't FAST.

BUWAHAHAHA!! Then whatever you do, DO NOT RIDE IN ONE!!! If you do, you will QUICKLY see what you're missing... reminds me of my buddy Dan, with his LO3 305... took him for a ride in my 400 T/A and showed him what a V8 is all about. His eyes kinda got big.... Then Austin. *sighs* Thought his N/A Mark III Supra was ***'s Gift To Speed, until he ran into a guy with a BPU++ Mark III Turbo.

Doward that may be true for the 2.8s but the 3.1s are nice!!! We may not go as fast but we will win the race on fuel mileage.
All that nice HP doesn't do squart in bumper to bumper traffic and you have to pay for the extra displacement when your going no place. EPA city ratings prove this.

Ever hear of Fiat 600s?
Ya just mash the pedal and shift often.
It's that slow!
BUT legendary car, for the FUN FACTOR.
Glad ya enjoying your new ride.
Have plastic for the T-Top leakage?
From one that has an old T-Top 1974 Corvette & that leakage problem!
If you're handy we can help ya.
These are "easy" cars with only difficulty is
finding cheaper parts on "unwanted cars in wreckig yards" and lack of SOME access for certain engine work.
Beyond that, they're bone simple fun rides & great cruisers in Style & Class
AND it is NOW again an American Classic!

T-tops and hatch have NO leakage.
Whats cool is, I know some about this engine. My truck had a 2.8 carbed, and this engine is very familar to me.
First things first though.. it needs to be tuned up, and every basic mantainence step needs to be taken. I'll start with flushing the radiator, fluids, professionaly done injector cleansing, belts, filters, and a lube job. Anything I left out?
Then its on to a rebuilt distributor and new wires/ignition.
Then the tranny will need some attention

Hence the reason I live in the middle of the Forest. Looong roads, with no traffic. Great to
blast down with the stereo up!
That pretty much describes what the roads were like in eastern PA back when I first started driving in 1972, until I left PA back in 1980.
Enjoy every blessed moment of no traffic & a tree lined road for many of us, that no longer can.
My old Sting Ray, top down, humidity up, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Rolling Stones, to name a few of my friends I used to go driving with for hours of just cruising.... LUCKY YOU got primo change of season road views.... I miss that.
I have to go above Santa Barbara (100 miles away) to enjoy that view on the Pacific Coast Highway
