attention ked85! (or anyone else who has done the 3.4 swap)
hey, will a 3.4 short block work under all of my 2.8 stuff? i've got brand new heads, would like to use my existing fuel delivery system as well as my heads. i am sure that i can find a 3.4 short block for next to nothing around here. what is involved with using my distributor also cause isn't the 3.4 equipped with a ignition pack thingy? thanks guys
Yeah, the 3.4 block will work under the 2.8 top-end. I'd use the 2.8 timing cover also.
The 3.4 still has the distributor hole...it just has the oil pump drive in it. Pull that out...drop distributor in and you're done. The 3.4 will also have Cam and Crank sensors that were used with the DIS system. You'll need to either plug those holes...or leave them in but replace the o-rings at least.......there are tons of minor details but it's a straight forward swap.

Yes, use your current 2.8 top. The 3.4l heads are the better heads unless you just had yours ported or so.
Use the 3.4l block, crank, cam, pisons, heads.
Use the 2.8l timing chain, oil pan, distrib, pullys, accessorys, intake, valve covers.
