I would suggest any kind like this. That open end give it a nice sound. soild tips have more of a superbike sound when sticking out the back.

I got that set for 5 bucks. think they are stock pieces for a grand am something v6 with duals. they sound great and can touch the body.
I have mine tight and flush with the rear end, looks very nice.

So where did you get them? I really like those. I like how they are short in length. I think I might shelf my Borla tips as room art, even though I just got them this summer.
The real question is... Who put that wing on the car? The Formula/TA wing looks great.
I used two large (approx. 3 inch) chrome tips, and instead of welding them out straight, I welded them at an angle. I have a 1992 firebird, and I like the way they look. I'll see if I can't get a picture tomorrow.

I got mine for 5 buck but not form any store, guy next to my friand had them for some Gm car, grandam, bonni, somethin with a v6 and dual, they were stock tips and he gave them to my friend for free, 2 sec later I offered 5 bucks for em.
I had solid dual tips like them hookers above but it had too much of a super bike sound, letting some of the sound go under the back of the car really mellowed it out
withthe solid ones, it was real fricking loud when I pushed the rpms up, like a crockrocket you hear 5 miles away on the e-way.
now its a more mellow, deeper, not as anoyning to my ears sound.

I run the Megs tips on my ride. Rolled edge, straight cut, in chrome. http://www.coneengineering.com/megs/megshome.htm Had to modify the suckers to make them fit up to the 2.5" pipes... back then, didn't have my welder. They're held on with Dynomax stainless steel band clamps.

I don't have a good, up close pic, but you can see them on the back of my car on my engine swap page, http://www.geocities.com/tomp_3rdgen ... man, I gotta get a "real" page going one of these days... anyway, remember there's two Toms on that page; I'm the guy standing next to both motors (one on the stand, one on the hoist).
[edit] And haha, no, I still haven't finished the tint job.
By the time I get around to finishing, the stuff that's on there will be faded! Haha... oh well...

I really dont know what kind they are, stock Gm pieces I assume. They are just open on both ends, so some of the sound get traped under the car, kinda cuts out that high pitch sound and makes it soud much depper than a solid dual tip.

Check out some Magnaflow tips at Manganflow.com. Heck, get the whole cat-back system. I heard their exhaust systems are quiet, but open up at WOT. And, unlike Flowmasters, they don't give that ***** sound at WOT. Again, I've just heard.
I have the 2-chamber Flowmasters. It's great (very throaty and loud) at the lower end. But it starts to sound *****-like at the top end. My interior noise has that V8 rumble as well..kinda loud though.
Oh, I think think Summit racing has some 18'' tips as well.
