ALDL Usefulness
Ok...is there anything the ALDL terminal can't do? I mean, it can diagnose engine problems, it can force-lock the torque converter, it can manually control the electric fan (I HOPE this works with the engine ON as well!)....
Just wanted to know...what are some useful things this sucker can do that I don't know about? I'm a big fan of cheap, useful, manually controlled stuff...if I could control half of the crap manually with that engine, I would! So..any tips? I want a whole panel of switches on this thing if I can actually use em!
Thanks.

Yeah, I've been thinking about doing some work with that..but I'd need a cable, a laptop, a prom burner...I just don't have that kind of technical skill or spare money. Not to mention I'd have no clue in hell as to what I was doing!
Anyone know any other useful things you can do the simple way?? (Connecting pins together to trip something)

Nixon: DO NOT start your car with A and B jumpered. You can fry the PCM. You can jumper them after the engine has been started but the engine will be in "Field Service" mode. The SES will flash according to loop status and DTC's cannot be stored in the PCM.

It won't fry your PCM, trust me I have started the car with mu code reader installed, the SES light flashes like "hey Idiot, did you forget something?"

This is incorrect. Nixon1's '91 is SD with a '730 ECM. A link has to be established via two-way communication. 8192 baud is the only supported speed. The ECM will be transmitting idle chatter until a link is established. Jumping is not required or recommended while data logging as it will change how the ECM controls the engine.

Here is the quote that I am correcting:
"actually if your data logging, they have to be jumpered."
