cars volt meter all over.....help!!!!!

Please help. I have a slight problem. I'm getting a 32 egr valve code. So I replaced the egr valve. The light is gone now but the problem isn't. The volt meter jumps around and at night you can see my lights slightly flicker. Does anyone know what this might be? I hate mechanics so I would like to get some help in figuring this one out. Another thing is when I first start the car it idles sorta high then back down to almost stalling then idles high then almost back to stalling. Then everyonce and a while the volt meter will stay right above 13 without moving as if nothing is wrong for like 5 minutes and then it will go back to jumping around. Thanks for the help. Aaron:

Inspect the vacuum lines -- if one is broken it could cause a code 32

Alternator might be dying, battery might be dying, or the gauge might be dying. You'll need to put a meter on the battery to find out for sure. How old is your battery?
