More problems ..

I started changing my oil today . The filter was put on so tight by the mechanic that I have torn it up trying to get it off . Only a small portion of the metal is on at the end where it screws in .and its stubble metal .I first tried putting a screw driver in it to get it off , and that just destroyed and tore and ripped the filter off ..HELPPPP !!!!!!

There was the time I wanted to change spark plugs in the Buick 215 Aluminum V-8 (1963 mill).
I guess I was about 19 or so.
Well, Aluminum heads were new things back then and
THEY STRIP REAL EASY!
Yep, I stripped the spark plug thread holes. Tried to twist plug out by tightening instead of.....

I patched this problem by inserting a larger spark plug.
THE PLUG TRICK WORKED & HELD.
Long enough to give my Dad (who didn't know how bad I screwed up!) a ride in the car and for me to make it to the mechanics.
I learned the value of a Helicoil that day.

Hope your solution is much simpler.

Yours may entail removing the oil filter housing from the engine block &..........

man that stick, not really sure how to help. i usually do the screwdriver trick myself, use a long one and jam it through both sides and crank it lose.

an oil filter should not be anymore than hand tight but people love to crank them down like a head bolt.

It's like this sucker was cranked on there with a torque wrench ..lol ... I made a post on the tech board , but I was also reading in the search and read to stick a screwdriver in the end part of the filter , the part thats stuck in there , Im going to put the end of a screwdriver on that part and tap it out with a hammer . Im ganna try to get my digital camera working just so I can take a pic of this filter that I destroyed .

If you can't get it off, take it to that shop, and if they won't do it, you could probably take them to court.

I got it off a few hours ago . I had to stick a screwdriver in one of the flange holes and tap it with a hammer and push it out . Then I had to get the oil plug out of the pan . They must have tightened that down as hard as they could ! ....That oil change was a nightmare . SO GLAD I DID NOT MESS UP THE OIL FLITER HOUSING Karl !

From one that has an oil leak at the oil filter housing & it has to be fixed,
good going Wayne!
Have you purchased a oil filter cap for yourself from a Snap-On or Mac dealer?
I have one for every filter every car.
I hand tighten, yet after awhile, they "Stick" & this is one handy item instead of the mess you "enjoyed"

I have one , but it only works on the old filters I was using , that was on the fram filters on my old engine . I dont put fram on this engine , For some reason , everytime I get ready to change my oil I think that filter cap fits and it doesn't I always end up using my filter tool , which I hate using ! I need to get me one to fit Purelater pure one filters !
