S-10 V6 vs. Camaro V6

Can anyone tell me if there is any difference between the truck 2.8L and the Camaro 2.8L?

1 comes in a truck, 1 comes in a car.

Camaro is MPFI, truck is TBI.

Block, timing chain, heads, crank, pistons, all the same.

Diff is mainly in oil pan, intake design, valve covers.

unless its a question about a specfic year it not an answerable question, but a 2.8 is a 2.8 , it just might have different fuel delivery and a different cams but its all the same.

might as well say the 3.1 is also, all parts are swapable, but pistons.

the bore on the 2.8 and 3.1 is the same. the stroke is different. i'm building a new 3.1 off of a 2.8 block, put a 3.1 crank in it (bored but that was just because i already had the bigger pistons, stock bore is the same though).

IF you get specific with the truck/car engine years, the answer can be more specific.
Blocks - same
Heads - DIFFERENT/SAME (depends on vehicle-diff is valve size. Rest of head is same (no better "flow" except by larger vlave)
Cams - See above, replace valve size w/cam specs.
Cam Carb'd version of truck/car is same - wimpy
TBI Truck cam - probably same as the carb
MPFI car cam is most "aggressive"
manifolds - intake - it's obvious
manifolds - exhaust - different is vehicle is Carb'd truck or car. Besides that point, they bolt on identical.

On a rebuild/worth grabbing ratio, search for a 3.4 mill.
Start with the best parts for more smiles per miles.

I can give an exact answer that...
2.99" stroke is a 2.8 crank.
3.31" stroke is a 3.1 crank.
3.31" stroke is a 3.4 crank.

GM Publication.

DETAIL
DETAIL
DETAIL

You NEED a 3.4 block to make a 3.4 mill.
There isn't enough meat in a 3.1 block to make a 3.4.

You'll be more prone to constant engine overheating & eventually crack block-hit water.

BORE
3.582 = Max for 3.1 block (am I correct as ya building one-my answer from a GM publciation)

3.62 = THE (starting point) STANDARD SIZE BORE FOR A 3.4
