Pilot Shaft Bushing

Ok guys, since project85 is out, I need your help.

He told me he got a roller pilot shaft bushing from napa. I called, they said no go, so he must know a trick I dont.

Now, on orileys site, it says I can use a motormite 14650 with my borg-warner 5sp.

I looked up and found that a 95 camaro lt1 uses same 14650, but my friend that works their says the roller bushing for that car is slightly bigger on outside, and inside is the same.

Think thats what he did, and just BFH'd it in their??

I'm wanting to bolt this beast in this weekend

I'm not that swift on manual trannies, so I tried going to expressautoparts.com ... but they list (under bearing & seal) an input pilot or mainshaft pilot bearings - not bushings - which one is this?

Kinda scares me; the online catalog used to be very obvious... I hope federal mogul isn't about to take it down. Hm. I better find out how to save that website, eh?

I have tryed partsamerica and napa.

Carparts dont have anything for my truck
and that federalmoug site I cant figer out.

I'm thinking about trying it, If I have a roller timing chain, and plan on getting roller rockers, why not roller bearings

I see autozone carrys a timken one that is 12 bux, wonder what kind it is I hate autozone too.

Yeah, federal mogul's a bit trickey, try:

Go to: http://www.federalmogul.com

Click on replacement parts for: US & Canada

Click on the picture of a tie-rod end (looks like an impact gun) for Moog Chassis Parts

On the left, choose online catalog

Now, click for your year, make, model, and engine

The website looks like it freezes- now click on the blue "product category" icon below the year/make/model/engine boxes

Choose some category (like Drivetrain)

Choose a group (like Manual Transmission & Parts)

The website looks like it freezes- click on "lookup" below the boxes

Make any other choices (like Yes to manual trans, then submit) and you should see your listing.

The catalog wasn't this confusing before; some jerk must've re-did it recently. I hate websites that always change themselves around (do you hear me, dell.com ?!??! Geez! Enough already!!! Leave the website ALONE!!) - it makes it hell to find anything.

Last roller bearing I got was for my M-21 for my 1967 Camaro.
Which I'll bet is the exact same size used in the 70's Firebird example.

LOL, I did notice some of the v8's used the same part #

However, our 60deg v6's use different part #'s


Ok, I wont worry about a roller bearing I was really wanting one for this.

I SO AGREE
That's why I obtained my roller bearing.
BUT with modern technology, many times, "old"
is just now "old ideas" and not necessary on newer rides.

LOL, I will pass on that one ked.

I bought a basic bearing for it. I have lots of time, so I will check its dimenions and search the net. In mean time, I plan on installing engine this weekend

Got last parts I needed last night
Borrowed engine hoist last night
Had to put truck on wood blocks just to get it high enough to roll hoist under frame *blush*

Wish me luck on both rides as I am still attempting to find my "not starting when warm" symptom on camaro.

On your TRUCK
I FOUND THAT
I had to REMOVE THE WHEELS to LOWER MY TRUCK to make the engine "leap, LOL!" over the radiator support of my 1985 S-10 Blazer.
I didnt have to raise the "factory stock ride height" truck off the ground to get the engine bay hoist lift under my frame.
Hope these are some tips for ya to help better.

I've had it out 3 time before, I unfortunatly know how it goes. Its not even the orginal frame under the truck, hehe.

This is the first time since I had the air suspension on it though, and even with it fully inflated, the hoist would hit the control arms underneith.

other times I never removed the front bumper, and it always hit the bumper coming out.

This time, bumper was first part to come off.

First time I tryed pulling it, forgot the handle had to come off tranny, and forgot the ground straps............


"WTF IS HOLDING ENGINE IN?".... "Hey, where you supp to unbolt these here first?" "ARGH"

in my swap case, the tranny lines were still "hooked/attached" to the engine underneath. & poof!!! I got to bend new lines.

I might be able to sneek a couple more posts in before Jan, that's when the fun really begins
